Teacher of the Year

Liz Harrell, 8th grade Math and Science teacher, has been named the Glascock County School System 2021 Teacher of the Year.  

Mrs. Harrell began her teaching career in Putnam County but has been a teacher at Glascock County School for the last six years.  Liz is knowledgeable about the subject matter she teaches, passionate about engaging students in learning, and focuses on the academic progress of all of her students.  Reflecting on her teaching style, Liz said, “As I grow and learn as an educator, I am challenged to be sure that each lesson I teach gives my students the opportunity to develop critical reading, thinking and problem-solving skills that will follow them, not matter where they go.”  

Liz holds many leadership positions at Glascock County School in addition to being a classroom teacher.  She is a member of the PBIS Team, the Leadership Team, as well as being Fundamentals Team member.  In addition, Liz is also the co-sponsor of the school’s Christian club, Mountain Movers.  Liz is a graduate of  Thomson High School (2009) and Augusta State University (2013).  She is married to Josh Harrell of Mitchell and they have two children, Dallas and Augie.
